EBC XC-Series Rotors for Your Concours 14

EBC's new XC-Series contour rotors are the latest in rotor technology available today. The MD4155XC from EBC is the correct part number for the C14. These rotors are interchangeable left or right upon installation.

"The new rotors feature EBC's unique and patented S-Drive button system which features square sided rivets captured in square drive pockets on the rotor and hub which allow the outer rotor blade to expand and contract freely under the heat of braking without suffering rivet lock.

Rivet lock is the term used when rotors heat up under heavy braking and the rotor blade contacts the (normally circular) rivets that separate the inner rotor hub and the outer rotor blade. The new EBC system completely eliminates this problem area which causes 100% of the failures of rotors suffering from distortion and brake vibration.

The steel used in the new EBC rotor blades is also a special stainless blend with higher friction effect than normal heat treated stainless steel found on stock discs and boasts up to 10% improvement in friction effect improving brakes even further. Weight of the new X and XC series is then reduced by another 5-10% by using a 6 only button drive system on a lightweight alloy center hub, which once again grabs the lead over stock parts.

This cannot be switched to the lighter 6 button system on alloy hubs because they are still stuck in a rut using circular rivets. Circular rivets demand more contact points to get the same geometric centralization and still avoid generating slack in the drive direction because, being circles inside circles they only offer point contact."
