A brief history may be in order if you “googled” your way to this page. As great a bike as the ZG1000/GTR1000, “Concours”, C10, is there has been a weak link in the form of its vacuum activated petcock. It is prone to leaking fuel while the engine is not running. While this in itself it not that great of a sin, if you have a float needle that is leaking fuel by it can be catastrophic.
With both a petcock and float needle leaking, fuel can enter a cylinder on the engine. As fuel/air is compressible, liquid gasoline is not. With it being in the cylinder, and its companion cylinder getting ready to launch off on the power stoke, the end result can be a bent rod. The Murphskits' manual conversion takes technology back a few pages and converts the stock petcock into a truly manual apparatus. However, with the kit you now must, as in the days of yore, REMEMBER TO TURN OFF YOUR FUEL. Your new settings will be off, on, and reserve. You also have the benefit of letting the engine completely suck all of the fuel out of the float bowls when the bike is parked.
The kit includes the following pieces:
-
1-Large o-ring, seals petcock to bottom of fuel tank
-
1-Medium sized o-ring, rotating seal member for the shuttle valve
-
1-Small o-ring, seals the "nose" of the plunger valve
-
1-Bolt and nut assembly. Used to supply the pressure on the plunger valve mentioned above
-
1- Vacuum cap to isolate the vacuum port on the carburetor manifold
-
2-White seal washers, used between the head of the petcock mounting bolts, and the petcock body
*Color of O-rings will vary*

I AGREE
To ensure a good seal between the diaphragm and the aluminum pieces, consider adding a small container of Permatex Aviation form-a-gasket to your order. You can do so with the drop down option.
